Managing Partner – Founding Partner
Sean Crawford is an experienced Security Director, with extensive experience in the provision of international security management and executive protection engagements. He has developed international and domestic opportunities for security services within Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. He has worked very closely with government departments and agencies – primarily the Foreign Office and DIFD – in the overseas operations and policy arena, including the re-establishment of Embassy staff and infrastructure design in Libya and Somalia. Instrumental in providing immediate support and repatriation for clients during the Arab Spring
Prior to joining Rose Partners Sean directed all of Control Risks international executive protection engagements throughout EMEA and supported all other regions within the group. He has operated in high-risk environments and managed high-profile engagements across the globe. Sean has demonstrated a proven commercial career during his time with Control Risks Group as the Associate Director for Protective Services for EMEA. He has cemented Protective Services as the market leader and has enhanced the Control Risks brand.
More recently Sean has designed the Rose Programme personal resilience course for young people; giving them the knowledge and insight needed to navigate the complexities and demands outside your school gates and preparing them mentally and physically as a member of a global society. Sean currently sits on the board of Rose Partners as a founder member.
Senior Partner – Founding Partner
Nick Kitson has been a Senior Partner at Rose from its foundation, playing a central role in the establishment of the company, its strategy and the development of its client base. As a non-executive partner, he provides advice and assistance on all aspects of the company’s operations as well as sourcing and engaging in new business. Prior to joining Rose, Nick served 20 years with the British Army, commissioning into the Royal Green Jackets and taking early retirement in 2012, having reached the rank of Colonel. This encompassed operational tours in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as liaison, training and advisory tasks in various other countries, several in the Middle East. He has held key leadership appointments including command of a Special Forces squadron and an infantry battalion. He led a 1400-strong Battle Group in Afghanistan, during a most intense period of British counter-insurgency operations there, for which he was awarded the DSO. He has held several staff appointments in Whitehall, mainly in the field of operational policy and planning but also with responsibility for Army structures and broader institutional policy. He has worked closely with other government departments and agencies – primarily the Foreign Office, Home Office and DFiD – in the defence and overseas operations and policy arena, including a secondment to the National Security Council Secretariat in the Cabinet Office during the Libyan Revolution.
Since leaving the Army Nick has been developing a commercial career in the upstream Oil and Gas sector and is currently Vice President Middle East and North Africa for a UK based midcap Exploration and Production company. Responsibilities are centred on country specific strategy, government and corporate relations as well as involvement in current operations and new acquisitions.
Academic achievements include a BA (First Class with honours) in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Exeter University and a MA (with distinction) in Central Asian Studies with Arabic and basic Russian from London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
David has been part of Rose Partners since its inception. He brings a great deal of experience from working in some of the most challenging of environments. He has planned and delivered complex executive protection tasks both domestically and internationally, providing discreet executive protection to HNW individuals and families, as well as corporate chief executives.
Deployed throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America on a variety of high and low profile tasks. He is extremely adept in mission analysis, problem solving and security mitigation planning and implementation, delivering timely, accurate and thoroughly analysed information on ‘The Threat’ whilst being under great time pressure. David is an integral member of the decision making process. Using lateral and proactive thinking to deploy all available assets effectively.
Al has been involved in the planning and delivery of personal safety risk mitigation and staying safe training to various agencies for over 20 years including the MOD, Government Agencies and the BBC. Al has also been involved in the development, design and quality assurance of training for over 25 years and has extensive experience working at all levels creating and delivering training solutions designed to support the organisations business plan.
Al is a leading instructor for organisations that wish to become accredited centres to plan and conduct training at all levels to meet emerging threats and risks allowing them to sustain capability.
Senior Security Design Consultant
John has more than 23 years’ experience in the security industry, in the design, evaluation, management, installation and maintenance of a wide range of security projects and systems in the public and private sectors. He previously worked as a Senior Consultant in Control Risks’ Security Design & Solutions practice.
In 2010 John completed a three-year secondment to the London 2012 Olympic development project with the Olympic delivery partner CLM. John represented the Olympic delivery consortium to ensure compliance with the Olympic Park security operational requirement and to safeguard the venue’s professional design teams in developing a consistent security design philosophy in accordance with the Olympic games bid commitment. Part of this role included interfacing with Secure by Design advisors and Counter Terrorism Security Advisors to achieve Secure by Design accreditation for each sporting venue.
John’s recent security design projects include:
- Physical and electronic security design for an international port in Africa
- Estate and residential security design for a prime residential development in the UK
- Integrated electronic security design for a global fashion brand in Europe
- Physical and electronic security design for an international port in the Middle East
- Physical and electronic security design for a portfolio of petro-chemical assets in North Africa
John has carried out numerous security reviews of private residences and businesses.
He has worked as a project manager at Morgan Stanley on the delivery of electronic security solutions in two high-rise developments within the Canary Wharf campus and a new data centre in Croydon, projects totalling £4m. Roles and responsibilities included risk assessment, tender evaluation, procurement, project management, and system acceptance/witness testing.
Previously, John worked within the private sector for major systems integrators in south-east England on a diverse range of security projects, including shopping centres, universities, utilities, government buildings and financial institutions.
John serves as Rose Partners Senior Security Design Consultant.

Twysden has spent his career to date acting as an advisor to HNI’s & C-Suite across many sectors on strategy, structure, routes to market, identifying and hiring operational teams and partner agencies, introducing equity and debt partners and establishment in domestic & overseas markets. He has been active across the leisure and entertainment sectors, property, travel & hotel, private security, tv & radio, luxury good sectors, & insurance industries. He has also helped clients establish charities in the UK and abroad.
Twysden is Managing Partner at Rose Partners, and also sits on the boards of Daedalus, a private secure communications provider, Global Accounting Network, a boutique finance recruitment agency specialising in permanent & interim staffing for qualified accountants, and Ferintosh, Scotland’s oldest whisky distillery.
Clarke Jarrett is a senior advisor to Rose Partners and brings extensive Counter Terrorism (CT) and event planning/security experience. Prior to joining Rose Partners Clarke was head of the UK’s largest Counter Terrorism unit, SO15 at New Scotland Yard and responsible for all police counter terrorism operations in London and internationally. He held leading roles in the Westminster, Parsons Green, Salisbury, and Sri Lanka attacks and the delivery of CT operations for the Cricket World Cup 2019, visits of President Trump and the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Summit 2019.
Before working in CT Clarke was a senior leader for the security planning and operations of the London Olympic Games and has recently been a senior advisor to the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
Clarke’s skills include: crisis management; the delivery of CT and security strategies; threat mitigation; management of terrorist attacks; covert and overt operations; and event security.
Phillip Forsyth has over 35 years’ experience in Military, Security and Counter Terrorism Operations. In the British Army he conducted numerous counter terrorism operations and activities in support of policing efforts in Northern Ireland. Also, within a Special Duties Unit, he conducted operations in support of the UK Government’s foreign and domestic Counter Terrorism, Force Protection and Serious and Organised Crime strategies.
Phillip was instrumental in the operational effectiveness of a number of units including those on Special Duties, by developing on operations new tactical techniques and practices, and as a Senior Training Manager where he designed, developed and conducted an enduring training programme and overseas training exercises which are now regarded as best practice to rehearse and test unit operators, support staff and attached agencies in the collection, analysis and dissemination of information.
Beyond his Military career, Phillip has been involved in advising governments on the strategy and operational procedures for the protection of Critical National Infrastructure and high value entities. Additionally, he has participated in the successful investigations of war crimes and acts of terrorism.
Adam is a transformational executive with proven leadership experience in both the corporate multinational and government sectors. He has spent over 20 years leading on strategic and operational enterprise risk programs employed by governments and some of the world’s leading blue chip companies.
He has extensive experience of State building throughout the Middle East and Africa. Adam was the part of the lead organisation tasked with designing and executing on the security strategy for the Afghanistan Presidential Election in which a program of intelligence and counter-intelligence was developed and deployed to ensure the successful, safe and secure outcome of the election. This program was both strategic and operational and its success was in part due to the support of the Afghan populous whose engagement formed a key part of the vision and strategy set by Adam. His operational experience stretches to that of Iraq, Nigeria, Yemen and Sierra Leone where he worked extensively in delivering capability and skills to government institutions and commercial bodies.
Adam has experience of delivering functional transformation resulting in business aligned holistic risk and security strategies that add quantifiable value to the business and return profit. Results driven especially in roles demanding innovative solutions to complex and often sensitive issues within environments requiring diplomacy, initiative, sound judgment and professionalism. Adam’s experience extends to that of resilience planning and execution; building processes and structures that allow organisations to identify, protect, detect, respond and recover. He has exposure and understanding of operating in a controlled environment leading to direct dealings with respective industry regulators.
Adam is a board member of the International Security Managers Association (ISMA) through which, along with his peers, he is driving the strategic agenda for the security industry (CSO and CISO community and leading blue chip companies). He received the ISMA Founders Award 2019 for strategic contribution to the industry, voted for by his peers.
Adam, a former Army Officer commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, saw service in Bosnia, Kosovo and Northern Ireland.
Niall Greenwood has 25 years’ military experience in operations, strategy and planning in the UK and has deployed extensively overseas. He is an expert in surface to air missile systems, airspace management and emerging technologies in the aviation, ATC and drone spaces. He is also a First Class military interpreter with operational information operations experience.
During a fifteen year corporate career Niall has delivered large projects and programmes in cyber-security, software systems, investment management, new business concepts and technologies and some world firsts in deregulation and the aviation domains.
Niall believes in using technology to lower the cost of delivery and to increase system security and leads on several innovative concepts and associated training. He also understands complex regulatory environments and how to deliver successful deals in them.
Security Risk Consulting Director
Paul provides security risk management advice and is experienced carrying out residential property reviews. He has carried out strategic security reviews and developed corporate security policies and plans for a large number of multinational companies and SMEs.
Paul has 20 years’ experience in the Australian Foreign Service in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. He was High Commissioner (ambassador) in Kenya where he was responsible for the Australian Government’s relations with ten countries in east Africa and the Horn of Africa and was accredited as Australia’s Permanent Representative to the Nairobi-based United Nations Environment Programme. As a member of the Australian Foreign Service, Paul was also for some time head of fraud prevention and investigations.
He has also worked privately as a consultant to several Australian and British companies providing advice on political risk and stakeholder management in Africa. He has extensive experience in political, economic and security risk analysis.
